EXISTING Basic and Enhanced STAR Exemption Recipients

The exemption for existing STAR recipients has not changed. It is still administered by the Assessor’s Office.

Enhanced STAR applicants must be 65 years of age by December 31st.  The annual deadline for filing applications is March 1st.   As long as your 65th birthday will occur on or before December 31st of that same calendar year you are considered “age-eligible”.  If the owners are husband and wife or brother and sister, only one of the owners must be at least sixty-five based on the above birthday information.  You are required to file both an Enhanced STAR form and an Income Verification Authorization form together with proof of residence, age and income.

PLEASE NOTE: To apply directly with the Assessor’s Office for Enhanced STAR using the application listed below, you must currently be receiving a Basic STAR exemption on your property taxes. All other owners must apply through the NYS Department of Tax and Finance.
